This book is a translation of the Shen Ying Jing or The Divinely Responding Classic. The Shen Ying Jing was incorporated by Yang Ji-zhou as the 8th book in his monumental Zhen Jiu Da Cheng (The Great Compendium of Acupuncture - Moxibustion). That Ming dynasty text is considered by many to be the most complete and mature premodern text on acupuncture and moxibustion, and the Shen Ying Jing forms the treatment formulary section of that great book. Arranged by body parts, physiological functions, and symptoms, this book contains hundreds of acupuncture and moxibustion treatments for a host of conditions. These signs and symptoms have all also been indexed in this edition, making the formulas in this book even easier to find and use by busy clinicians. Yang Ji-zhou was a unique combination of medical scholar and professional practitioner, and the Zhen Jiu Da Cheng as a whole is known for its blending of theory with clinically proven technique. Therefore, it is significant that Yang Ji-zhou chose this book as his treatment formulary section.
