Diagnosis and acupoint stimulation of ear points is an ancient and traditional part of Chinese medicine, with written records dating to the Spring and Autumn Period and references to ear points and indications in venerated texts such as the Magic Pivot (Ling Shu) and Inner Canon (Nei Ding).  Ear acupuncture is used for diagnosis and treatment of a variety of internal and external conditions.
